This website has been developed by New Direction, a careers consultancy based near Reading, Berkshire. Initially formed to provide careers advice and guidance to those in the energy and utility industries, New Direction has grown rapidly and now provides careers support to graduates, executives and career changers throughout the Thames Valley.

 

We decided to launch this website to provide careers information and access to jobs in the renewables sector, in response to increasing interest in environmental careers, particularly amongst younger clients. It became clear to us that there was a general lack of knowledge of the opportunities available.

 

We are well-placed to write about energy matters, with over twenty years’ experience in both conventional and renewable power generation activities. Our consultants have participated in the development of power generation projects in the UK and overseas, working with partners from the US and Europe, including proposals for the first major straw-burning plant in the UK. We write regularly on career matters for a large group of newspapers.

 

We are not a recruitment agency. We work for clients and companies to help individuals – whether in or out of work – position themselves to their best advantage, in order to move their careers forward in directions that most suit them. Our services include psychometric testing, advice on career options, CV drafting and interviewing skills, and developing effective job search techniques.
